Why does Taco Bell add trans fat to their bean burritos?

First of all Trans fat is not a fat like substance, it IS FAT. Hydrogenated fat. These saturated fats have a higher melting point, which makes them attractive for baking and extends shelf-life. So to answer you r question it is for added shelf life and because it is cheaper. nasty huh?
