Do girls send signals on purpose or subconsciously? Is this girl shy?

My crush is an outgoing bratty girl who has shown me obvious signs that she is very into me since she'll do things like follow me around, gaze into my eyes, subtly touch me, get giggly/dazed, punch me, etc. I'm confused though because she plays hard to get when i talk to her online, making it seem as though she isn't interested. Does she act that way around me on purpose or subconsciously because it would explain a lot. She's never had a boyfriend before doesn't toy around.
