My sewing machine, a singer izek keeps sewing on the wrong end?

the 6 inch end keeps getting sewn instead ofthe spool. i believe the machine is threaded correctly. 99% sure in fact. how do i fix this? what ami doing wrong? i watched the isntructonal video and have looked online to no avail.
